Live @ Arts Alive Guiness Festival in Johannesburg, South Africa 1993

"I've always had this dream of recording an album with South African musicians playing alongside some of the best musicians in the world. I'm also telling my people that this country is unique, that musically, audiences haven't learnt to appreciate what they have available to them. In a way it's a plea to give South African musicians a chance." Airto

Thanks to Kathy and Darius Brubeck we were invited to perform with Fourth World in Durban and Johannesburg, Airto Moreira and Flora Purim's first visit to South Africa had to be one of the most memorable occassion for many of their many local fans who at the end of a restrictive era were allowed to see thier heroes performing live.
The organisers of the gig sold so many tickets that when the doors finally opened the hall filled up so rapidly that they tried to restrict people from entering - not with much success!
The crowd simply overrun the security crew at the door so when Airto came to the stage there were people everywhere, two to one seat, hanging from poles and rafters, occupying every avaialable space. It is no surprise that this album represents one of the most emotional perfomance of the group featuring Flora Purim, daughter Diana, Jose Neto and Gary Meek.
